Indie Texas Blog out of San Antonio: Documenting local music past and present

Antonio Rodriguez is an avid supporter of local music. Recently, he’s dedicated himself to sharing some of his favorites.

“Indie Texas attempts to raise awareness of local music in and around South Texas. We do this by ripping and uploading great music for you to download. If you enjoy what you hear support your scene by going out to shows and paying the musicians for what they create.”

Local 782 Holiday Mixer

The San Antonio Music Coalition’s 3rd annual celebration of the season!

San Antonio, TX - Local 782, the San Antonio Music Coalition, announces their Holiday Mixer; third annual holiday celebration. The event is being sponsored by KSYM 90.1FM and also serves as a toy and clothing drive for Boysville Children’s Home of San Antonio. Members of the local music community are invited to join the city’s media makers and journalists at C4 Workspace on Thursday evening, December 9 from 6:30 to 9pm.  C4 Workspace is located at 108 King William Drive (San Antonio, TX 78205).

Since 2008, Local 782 has hosted an annual Christmas-time party open to the city’s music community, organizations, and supporters. This year, the music coalition group expands on the tradition by encouraging attendees to bring gifts for the residents of Boysville Children’s Home, a shelter for youth who otherwise have no home, committed to “helping boys and girls become responsible adults”. Guests should bring new clothes and toys for boys and girls, from infants to young adult; gifts need not be wrapped. San Antonio College’s student-run radio station KSYM 90.1FM is sponsoring the event.

Local 782 was established to bring awareness, support, and innovation to San Antonio’s music community - uniting musicians to create opportunity by organizing, educating, and performing. Since the group’s inception, Local 782 has established itself as a service to San Antonio’s music community through an ongoing series of workshops with a focus on a Do-It-Yourself approach to a career in the music industry. Local 782 provides resources and opportunities to aspiring musicians through an expanding network of supporting organizations and businesses.

The Local 782 Holiay Mixer will be held at C4 Workspace, 108 King William Drive, on Thursday, December 9th from 6:30pm to 9pm.  DJ Cortez will be providing musical selections.
